Setter dogs come from a larger breed of dogs categorized as gun dogs. Setter dog is used to assist in hunting game for hunting quail, pheasant and grouse. Setter dogs breed is believed to have originated from Spain in 15th century and evolved from Spaniels. Subsequent to export in France and England, breeds were developed into present day varieties.

Setter dogs have derived their name from a peculiar characteristic. Setters use scent of game for searching the hunt. As soon as the game is located, setters freeze there and there instead of chasing after the game. This distinctive stance or crouch or set upon finding the game led to the name setter.

Long, smooth and silky coat is the easily recognizable feature of Setter dogs. Setter dogs are playful, intelligent, cheerful, friendly to people and dogs, and highly energetic. Setter dogs have six breed of dogs that include English setter, Irish setter, Irish red and white setter, Gordon setter, Black welsh setter and Russian setter.

Poodle Dogs origin is believed to be in France and Germany. Poodles are also called by alternate names like Pudle and Caniche. Poodle is a German word meaning splashing dogs. Poodles are considered as one of the oldest breeds of dogs and have been in existence for hundreds of years all over Europe where they can be found in Roman Sculptors. There is a dispute regarding true origin of Poodles but it has been commonly accepted that the current three distinct varieties of Poodles were bred in France.

There are three varieties of Poodles Toy, miniature and standard. Shoulder height of an adult Poodle distinguishes whether it is toy or miniature or standard variety. Poodle dogs can have many colors like black, apricot, white, blue, red, silver and brown. Poodles also come in multi color. Poodles are used as water dogs, show dogs and gun dogs or retriever dogs.
