Poodle Dogs origin is believed to be in France and Germany. Poodles are also called by alternate names like Pudle and Caniche. Poodle is a German word meaning splashing dogs. Poodles are considered as one of the oldest breeds of dogs and have been in existence for hundreds of years all over Europe where they can be found in Roman Sculptors. There is a dispute regarding true origin of Poodles but it has been commonly accepted that the current three distinct varieties of Poodles were bred in France.
There are three varieties of Poodles Toy, miniature and standard. Shoulder height of an adult Poodle distinguishes whether it is toy or miniature or standard variety. Poodle dogs can have many colors like black, apricot, white, blue, red, silver and brown. Poodles also come in multi color. Poodles are used as water dogs, show dogs and gun dogs or retriever dogs.
